The Croat Ace, Borna Coric dethroned last year’s champion Roger Federer to the semi-finals of the Shanghai Masters Series with a $7 million prize pool. The Croatian defeated Federer 2-0 (6-4), (6-4) after being perfect for his own service and gave no chance for a breakthrough to his rival. The 21-year-old Croatian realize a break in the first game of both sets, then retained his advantage to reach for the first time in his career until the final in the Masters Tournament.
In the title match today, he will face the second winner and three-time winner of the tournament, Novak Djokovic (Serbia), who yesterday took away Alexander Zverev with 2:0 (6-2), (6-1) in a 1000 game match in his tournament in Tura. With success, Djokovic guarantees his return to second place in the world rankings, from which he will replace Federer.
The 31-year-old Serb, who is in a series of 17 consecutive wins, will reach the ATP leader Rafael Nadal (Spain) with 35 points difference if he wins the Shanghai trophy. He strives for the 72nd title in his career and 32 of the Masters series. Coric has two titles as a pro, but Djokovic has not won a set in both matches between now and now.
