Halep out of Miami Open, defeated by Pliskova

Simona Halep was one win away from reclaiming her place at the top of the WTA ranglist. Since Naomi Osaka dropped out early from the Miami Open , Halep showed some incredible performances and was so close to her goal, when Karolina Pliskova defeated her at the semi-final in Miami.

Pliskova’s form in 2019 is also good, winning the tournament at Brisbane, reaching the semi-final at Australia Open and the quarter final at Indian Wells. The world number 7 is now into the final of Miami Open.

The game was competitive , with the players making errors due to the atmospheric conditions which hampared the play. As the match progressed Pliskova was more consistent which gave her the win with score 7-5, 6-1.

“I think I played great in the second set. Of course I think Halep could maybe do a little bit better.” Pliskova said. “Maybe she was frustrated about the first set where it didn’t really go her way. I played some good shots, and it turned after the break. But yeah, that”s how it is and I’m happy with my game”.
