Roger Federer continued with his impressive form in 2019 with a win against teenager Denis Shapolov. Now Federer is in the final, where he will face defending champion John Isner.
The 37-year-old eased past his 19-year-old opponent 6-2 6-4 after just an hour and 14 minutes on court. During the match Federer’s experience was showed with him dropping just four points on his own serve. Shapolov failed to convert two breakpoints , and Federer pounced and never gave up the lead in the second set.
“I enjoyed it. I think I played very well. I had to,” Federer said. “Because I think when you let Denis play, he’s got some serious power, and he gets rhythm going. He can really put you in uncomfortable situations. So I think I did well, and I’m very happy how I played.”
“Yeah, definitely its talways tought to lose, but also its definetely enjoyable to be out there with your idol on the court” Shapovalov said in his press conference.” I’m just going to try and learn from this and move forward.”
