Roger Federer won his 101st title in Miami Open

Roger Federer won against defending champion John Isner to win the tournament in Miami Open. This is his 101st major title in his career and the fourth time he is champion of Miami Open. March was a great month for the Maestro , with him losing sets only in the final in Indian Wells against Dominic Thiem, who won the tournament in California, and in the first game in Miami.

Federer broke Isner’s serve and lost just three points on his own serve. After that Federer continued to stroll in the game to win the first set. In the second set , the defending champion Isner fought back leveling the score at 3-3 and 4-4. After that it appeared that he had foot injury , which was the tipping point in the match.

“It was a dream start. Maybe I broke too many times in the first set, I felt like I used too many jokers. I’m so happy right now, it’s great,” said Federer.

“What a week its been for me. I’m just so happy right now. It’s unbelievable. I played here in 1999 for the first time and here I am in 2019. It means a lot to me.”

Federer is on course to beat Jimmy Connors’s all time record of 109 titles.
